This group takes on so many of the activities that bring “caring” to life. In large part this includes maintaining contact with those in our membership who no longer attend services in person, for whatever reason. These individuals have been cornerstones in building the church, and we never want to forget them – or have them think that we have forgotten them. We have team members who regularly send greeting cards regularly, or on special occasions. The Monthly Newsletter is sent to these members, so they can know about all the things happening at the church. Another team goes out regularly to visit individuals, to just chat with them, to ensure their well-being, and even to give communion. The Prayer Shawl/Quilt/Scarf ministry distributes these items to those individuals going through a crisis period, either personal or family health issues, or losses. Members manage the church Meal Train, which provides meals for those with medical issues as well as for receptions following funerals? We have a prayer team who are always aware of any individuals requesting prayer support for whatever reason. They pray individually throughout the week for all these people. There is a group of Care Team Singers who will visit members with song! Finally these volunteers are always thinking of new ways to reach out and provide caring arms to all of our church members. We are lucky to have a good group of dedicated members, but with all we do, we would be glad to hear from you if you would be interested in joining us. You can get in touch with Caring Ministries through the church office at 812-332-5788 or office@smumc.church. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5d52f4b242c64800018ebee7/1566774415709-VMR1KKGTYJ6NULJT5X5T/IMG_0972.JPG Caring Ministries https://www.smumc.church/missions daily 0.75 2024-12-03 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5d52f4b242c64800018ebee7/1566775428521-KXYEABC60PCVDZNGFVAO/IMG_8979.jpg Missions - "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me."
