Care Ministries

Sharing our love

Care Ministry at St. Mark’s seeks to reach out to those in our church community who are experiencing challenges due to illness, grief and loss, childbirth, or loneliness and discouragement. We have teams who have specific ministry ways of responding to these crises. Contact the church to explore receiving care, or to volunteer for one or more of these teams.

Care Meal Team

Prepare or deliver meals for those recovering from an illness, or bringing home a new baby

Visitation Team

Call on those who are hospitalized, homebound, or in one of the local convalescent facilities.

Funeral Meal Team

Provide food, serve at a reception at church or provide funds for meals served on the occasion of a funeral or memorial service.

Prayer Chain

Pray for and support those in our congregation who request the prayers of this team.

Card Team

Write or sending letters or cards of support for those needing encouragement, support, congratulations or condolence.

Stephen Ministers

Provide one on one care for those who are hurting. Stephen Ministers go through a thorough experience of training and preparation to do this unique work.

Care Chorus

This new group assembles a small group of singers who learn a few easy hymns and folk songs to share with members of our church community who are homebound. The blessings are great even though the time commitment is light — one practice and one visit each month.

Crafting Adventures

Crafting Adventures, formerly known as the Crafting Circle is working on many items, Prayer shawls, and items of personal choice. This group meets on the third Monday of each month in Room 1. Completed shawls are blessed and given to those who have experienced loss, crisis, or an event to celebrate. Knitters and crocheters are also invited to attend the Wednesday afternoon St. Mark’s Quilters and Crafters to work on prayer shawls, etc.
